Mainsheet Traveler

Has anyone installed a Mainsheet Traveler?  It would seem I could point better when going to windward if I could get the main over a bit more.  If anyone has done this, how did you do this, type, brand, etc.  Or was it home-made?

I replaced everything with Harken parts (see the complete list of parts at the bottom of the page). I have been very happy with the installation after several years of use.

Jack,
If you owned a cutter or the sloop, an upgrade to the main traveler could be worth it.  On the ketch, the smaller main area will reduce the improvement.  A higher centered main will only reduce the mizzens effectivness upwind.

I see you got the parts from Alpha Rigging.  Did they actually do the installation or did you do it?  I'm thinking of seeing if they will do it for me.  I figure I'll run into them at the Annapolis Boat Show & see if they will do it.  My main concern is how to rig up the backing plates under the headliner.  There seems to be a void between the headliner and the deck.  And by the way the one you have is just what I want.  It looks great.

Yes Steve did all of the work and he & his team did a wonderful job.... Steve has since sold the Alpha rigging to Atlantic Rigging and taken off to sail the world... With that said of all the upgrades I have done, the traveler upgrade has to be in the top 5....

I also have a Harken on a bridge, just forward of the sliding hatch. It is very handy to be able to power up or de-power the main as conditions change a little. My only problem is convincing my wife (competitive nature of hers) that I really want it depowered when the rails are in the water....       She wanted to keep it fully powered up......
