Fuel line replacement

Hey Guys

I have this very ugly twisted bent copper pipe fuel line from the fuel tank to the Racor and it appears to be 5/16" I have some 1/4" SS tube that I would like to use to replace the copper anyone think I might restrict the fuel flow by using the 1/4"?

Ed Stainless steel and diesel are not a good combination. You would be better using USCG TYPE 1 FIRE-ACOL hose.

So now I am really confused, why is SS not compatible with Diesel?
