Hello All,
Does anyone sail with a loose-footed main? Thoughts or comments appreciated.

I went to a free-footed full batten main 6 years ago using a Strong Slide Track system.
I am very happy with the change.
You get a much better sail shape and performance and with the Strong Slide Track System it is very easy to raise and lower the main.

I have a loose-footed main on my 367, not full battened, that I bought two years ago, Uses the original slide track in  the mast.  When I had the guy from Hood sails measured it, I asked him how old the the old main was. He said he don't know but they haven't done that type of stitching in 25 years.  Of course anything would have given me better performance, but I do like the shape of the sail without the sliders in the foot. Gone from 3.5 kts in a particular wind to over 5 kts in the same.

We had a loose footed main.  I would want full battens if I ordered another one.
