I've seen several Monitors pass through the cruisinsersforum classifieds over time.

Some are old, some look like in good shape. I think there is  a difference in manufacturing runs or design change that make certain serial numbers inferior to others.  I don't know the details, but I think it has to do with the use of 304 SS vs 316 SS.

Yes, I think it was 1996 that they changed the type of stainless to 316. It was a big improvement.
