Good day all
I am replacing my old Motorola alternator with arco 60075. My old alt originaly had an external VR. The old Alt was worked on and was fitted with an internal VR witch changed the wiring some. The new Alt has a posative connection post. no issues. It has a connection post for the Tach. no Issues. It has a ground post and Exc post.

Proplem: There is a bundle of three wires that have one terminal. I have no clue were or what these 3 wire bundle should be attached too? Any help

Jonny:  I can't tell you without following the wiring and doing some deductive reasoning based on where the wires go.  I can provide a little info out of Nigel Calder's book, "Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual" that might help though.  If you knew where they originally came from that also might help.  The field is usually marked F or DF or maybe FLD on the back of the alternator.

Nigel says "Many Motorola alternators with attached regulators have the following wiring:  A white wire with its own separate spade terminal is the excitation line; the black wire goes to ground; and the red wire goes to an auxiliary terminal post on the back of the alternator.  This is the battery sensing (Voltage regulation) line.  The field wire(s) are under the regulator."

To help you figure it out you could check continuity and resistance to ground, and see if it is hot when the battery switch is on or not.  There are electrical gadgets that help you trace wires as well.  That may help you figure out what it may be.  Good luck
