Thank you!   Are you in the Panhandle as well?   We are in Gulf Breeze.

Hey everyone!

My Hurth transmission has been slowly losing the ability to shift into forward.  She has no problem in reverse though, so I can see myself motoring backwards a few miles to get home someday!

Of course the model and serial number plate is missing, but the internet seems to think it is a HBW150 2:1 transmission.    Rather than try to rebuild it myself, I will likely replace it with a rebuilt HBW150 or a new ZF15 (which I hear is a drop in replacement).

Has anyone done this job before?

Hey guys,

My time has finally come to replace the mast step.  Where on the site are the drawings to have one fabricated?  I don't see them in the documents section.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Tia,

I would recommend a hard wired charger such as the PowerMax 45A charger available from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F8MC42C/ref=psdc_10967761_t2_B00F8MC440

I have owned several expensive chargers over the past 14 years, and the Powermax has performed just as well if not better than the $400 variety from West Marine.

The PowerMax chargers are designed to charge a single bank, and maintain the batteries while you have a load on them, such as a refrigerator.  You could make it charge another bank if you add an ACR automatic charging relay or a combiner.

Hey Clint,

I have a 1982 Pearson 36 Cutter with the Universal 5444.  I live in Pensacola.  The boat is here as well.

Email, or give me a call.  I would be happy to help you with what ever you may need.

I noticed that my photobucket account is requiring an upgrade.

Here is a link to my Google Photos page with hundreds of photos of my Pearson 367.

Enjoy the past 14 years of cruising on our beloved P367!

I have always used the ATN Tacker on my 367.   It works great, and is simple to use.  There are some other products out there that do the same thing, or you could piece one together on your own.

Thanks guys,

Dale, to answer your question, the midship bilge compartment came from the factory with the two opening floorboards.  My access by the refrigerator is two boards as well.   In 1982 it seems like Pearson started putting some little extra touches on the 367.

Here is an album of photos dating back to 2004 when I bought the boat.    I may be obsessed with my boat.

I have had very good results with Goldspar Satin wood coating. My entire interior has been redone with it.  It's an easy product to use, and it turns out with a nice satin finish.

Here is a link to a pic of my cabin sole I refinished a few months ago.

I upgraded to a Phantom 3 Drone.   What a difference in quality!

Check out the footage!  The old girl looks great from the sky.

Definitely not professional looking, but still kinda cool.

It's actually pretty amazing what you can do with a $100 these days.   This was filmed using a stock Syma X8HG, toy grade drone.

I am a full time broker with Edwards Yacht Sales, so I deal with boat valuation on a daily basis.

BUC value will be extremely low, as it usually is for most everything other than newer trailerable powerboats.  Brokers and surveyors generally use data from Soldboats.com, which is a paid MLS database that shows actual selling prices from Yachtworld.   The comps on vintage Pearsons are all over the board, due to so many variables with condition.

An insurance survey would be the only thing that could give the company what they need to assign the boat more value.

Next time you are out of the water, you could have one done.   An insurance survey is not like the pre-purchase survey that you probably had done when you bought the boat.  It should not be too expensive, probably around $300-$400.  They are usually pretty quick.

Most companies will give you an agreed value policy, but it will be considerably more than a depreciating value policy on an older boat.   For reference in Florida,  I have an agreed value policy for $50k with BoatUS, and my premiums are just over $2,000 annually.  It's high, but worth it to me, as I love my boat!

I hope this helps.

Are you positive that it is not steam?   How much water do you get out of the exhaust?

5444's are known to run hot.  Mine steamed for years before I changed out the raw water pump to the newer Oberdorfer with increased output.

I have a Universal 5444 on my 1982 Cutter.

I added a Balmar 100a alternator about 10 years ago.
The model I have is 621-100SR-IG.  That number has been replaced with a new model called the 621-100-SV.   It fits perfectly on the stock single foot mount.
I use a ARS-5 regulator, and have installed the small engine circuit, that downgrades the alternator down to 50% output when I absolutely need the extra engine power.

The setup works as advertised, and is my main method of charging.
