Can someone enlighten me on exactly how you fly the mizzen stay sail?  I've just bought Island Jade (p365 #49) and I have a brand new stay sail, but have no idea how to rig it or when it is likely to be used.  I saw one photo that appeared to have it flying off the end of the mizzen boom.  Please include photos if you have any.

Are there any 365 gatherings on the Gulf of Mexico?  I'd love to participate if they are within a reasonable distant from Galveston Bay.

If you keep doin' what you're doin', you'll keep gettin' what you've got.

I fly mine this way...
The tack goes on the windward side rail, on to the main mast lower aft shroud turnbuckle.  I have a short pendant which raises the tack about 24" off of the deck.  The head of course flies of a separate halyard on the mizzen.  The clew runs through a block on the end of the mizzen boom which hangs on that bail on the end of the boom, (yup that's what the thing is for).
You can't tack this sail with out dousing it.
Enjoy...

Dale:
A quick question on positioning the clew sheet. Do you feed that on the windward side as well?
I've raised the stay sail while tied to the dock a few times to see how it all comes together. When I did I put the tack on the lee side. If I ever get Windrider in the water this year I'll give it another try.

Sorry for the late reply...
Tack on the windward side. Clew on the leeward side and the sheet goes to a block hung from the boom bail on the end of the mizzen boom.
Sorry, I have no pictures of our boat in motion.

Can anyone post a picture of theirs here? I am a visual person and would love to see it rigged in all of it's glory.  :)

There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
