Hmm, I am conversant with these diagrams - looks like you need to remove the hex bolt #46 (appears to be into the end of the shaft) and then screw (s?) #29

And I might also be wrong... the grease fitting might actually be the one that is at the end of the shaft....

Looks like item #28 spring pin (probably a roll pin) goes through item #4 clutch cone. In the clutch cone description, it says the customer needs to be able to drill the pin hole. I assume that would only be if the clutch cone is replaced. If there is a hole in the clutch cone that looks like it goes through the clutch cone and shaft, try a long punch and see if there is a pin in there.

I do recall seeing a hole thru the cone....I'll give that a shot.

....removed the parts revealing the (intact) chain assy.  Stumped for now.  Attempting to contact the gentleman in Scotland for advise.

Well. we just ordered a new Lewmar H3 for the Bow of THIRD DAY.  The Lewmar Profish 1000 just wasn't up to the task of full time live-a-board cruising where we live at anchor almost every night.  It made it a year...but now it's time to call in the Big Guns!

Better late thank...never...It has been a little over three years...how is the Lewar H3 doing?
