What do you all use for a helm seat? If I sit on a cushion, I'm too low. I need about 6 or 8 inches in height to be at the correct level.
Thanks

I have a wonderful booster seat that came with my boat its white molded foam about eight inches high with small up turns at the outer edges.

This is very close to what mine is like they say they can make them to your spec its worth spending the money to be comfortable.

Good luck.

We have used several booster arrangements to elevate the helmsman underway...but the best yet is a Taylor dock step.  It is large enough and heavy enough to not slide around too much.  With some innovation, a "bass boat style bucket seat" could be temporarily attached.

We have one that came with our boat. It was made by C Cushions.

I saw your reply and liked the helmsman seat so much, I bought one. They also had some nice cockpit cushions which would look good on Ohana.
They should be shipped soon!
Thanks for your reply
I enjoy reading everyones comments and other peoples issues with their Pearsons.
We love our 365 and would have no other boat.

Here is what I did on "Independence" to make the helm more comfortable and practical. I found a seat from a power boat at a salvage yard. I bolted the base to the hatch cover of the aft storage seat, cut the post to an acceptably length and mounted the seat to the post. The seat is able to move forward and back and swivel so it's comfortable in any sailing situation or just relaxing at anchor. To access the storage the seat has to be taken off and the post removed both with simple bolts. The base can stay bolted to the hatch cover.

I tried to post a picture but it kept getting rejected so if you want to see some pictures of the helm you can contact me at  georgetmuller@juno.com.

Good luck

I installed an ensign helm chair from West Marine on a removeable pedestal from Swivel-Ease. This way I can still access the lazarette where my propane bottles are stored. It is quite a comfortable arrangement, especially under power on the I.C.W.
