Hello All,

I am very new!! Just bought my first sailboat, its a 77 Pearson 365. I'm in the middle of an electrical nightmare trying to remove 30 years of DIY electricians. But my question today is are there any books I can buy to learn about this boat. This model has so much water storage im trying to figure out where the pumps are to move the water to sinks and shower. Still learning about her and anyone that can help with anything about it would be appreciated. Thanks

Jim S

I am unaware of any specific book about the 365.

Typically, the fresh water pump for all pressurized water aboard is located in the forward portion of the starboard lazarette.  The hot water heater, if present, may be there as well.

Congratulations on your new boat. I am in the process of redoing the freshwater system on my 1981 367. I think your system will be the same as mine or very similar. There are 3 freshwater tanks: one each under the port and starboard salon seats, and one under the v-berth. They are connected to three valves under the galley sink so you can control each individually if you want. From there the water goes to a freshwater pump in to starboard locker. The pump is activated by the pressurized water breaker in the breaker panel. At this point the hoses are split to go to the hot water heater and cold water. Then everything goes back to the sinks and shower. If the system is old and still works, leave it alone until you are ready to tackle this project, you probably have more important things to do. My hot water heater blew so I'm replacing the pump, heater, tubing, and all the faucets, including the shower. I'll write up everything that I have done when I finish my project.

Best Regards,

Mike

This is great information. The hot water heater is there in the starboard locker but I haven't had the chance to see if it or the pump works yet. I have been removing old not working battery chargers and wires that ran to nothing. Trying to get the electrical as close to original as possible. I did find an owners manual that helped with the DC side and I'm currently tracing out the AC to confirm its locations and functions. Thank you again for the insite into the water tanks, lines and pump. Much appreciated!!

I just redid my 110. 12 volt contains a lot of craziness. Still working on tracking it all down and replacing the parts that need used. We only had the outlet in the head that was working, and I finally snapped at having extension cords running all over the place. Only electrocuted myself once! :)

I've got a '77 365, and can confirm that mine is setup just like SV Alfresco.
