First coat of Awlwood gloss on the coaming.  Will build 8 coats before the hardware goes back on.

Thanks Skookster! Got the 8th and last coat on yesterday.  Now can proceed with getting the hardware back on.  Using the Awlwood finish has been a real boost in getting the required layers on in short order.  The material is expensive but the ease of use plus the time saving justifies it.  Cheers!

This may smell of heresy, but am thinking of doing another final coat with satin.  Was on the boat yesterday and the reflective glare was almost too much.  A lot of flat horizontal surface there...

Aft rail reinstalled along with assorted eyes.  All new fasteners.  Still waiting for two Schaefer cleats to come in from Defender... have been back-ordered since July.

Nice!. Where did you get the exhaust fans?

S/V AMITY

Bilge blower (exhaust fan) is still below the coaming and provides the power ventilation.  I replaced the plastic "tupperware" dorade scoops with this:  https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=1647393

Went with the mushroom vents since they are closable to water-tight by rotating the top which is on a threaded stem.  The original dorades were not closable... which is not good.

Also replaced the dorade box on the stbd. side of the cabin top and the port side heater chimney stack with same.  See picture.  In closed position profile is low and can be walked on. Has integral screen to keep bugs out.

Really beautiful work.  Cant wait to see her when completed.  Thanks for posting that up.

Thanks for the complement but dear AMITY's a mess with about 6 projects in motion... can't wait to see her completed either.  Working on 'em is fine but the object of the exercise is to GO SAILING!
