Hi all,
We are the new owners of Sol and have NOTHING but praise for the work done by Leo. We all know that our boats become a labor of love and I SO appreciate the work that has gone into her. We have been looking for THE boat for over five years and along the way bought an Islander 28 that I have extensively restored and dearly love (gelcoat peel, fill & fair, barrier coat and roll and tip from the toe-rail down, new sails, new canvas and dodger). We have looked at LOTS of boats and have kept coming back to the Pearson 365/367/424/422 family, but decided that for the two of us it made sense to stay in the 36 foot range. My wife and I knew that if we were were patient and kept our eyes open, the right boat would appear, and so she has.
We plan to rename her Silver Wings. Years ago when we had nothing but dreams to sail around the world, I carved my wife a very petite sailboat pendant from Pacific Yew and had a jeweler make a tiny set of silver sails. She has worn 'Silver Wings' for over 30 years and we have often said that we would name a boat 'Silver Wings'. She will carry us safely to Mexico and beyond.
I am so glad that Leo and his wife have found their new boat and look forward to crossing paths in the Sea of Cortez in a couple years.
I hope that Leo will be open to helping me to thoroughly understand the systems he has put in place. He has done a terrific job.
I have been following this site for a long time and look forward to contributing in the future.

Hi Risto,

I'm really happy Sol will be well looked after and sailed not just sitting in a marina. Please email me with any question you may have. I'll be cleaning out the garage and if I find any spare parts for the boat I'll ship them over or maybe we could meet up somewhere if we go to the boat show in February?
This site has been a priceless resource, really nice to talk to others that have been there done that.

Thanks Leo. You can count on us taking really good care of her and sailing a LOT. on the trip down from Anacortes we had nearly 30kts behind us on the quarter with 3 foot wind waves. with a first reef in the main and full genoa she was a freight train and very solid.
we touched 9kt SOG. Pretty good little shake-down.
I would love to meet up with you at some point. we will be going to the boat show and will also be going to John and Amanda Neale's 'Offshore Cruising Seminar' Jan. 31.
I will be sending you an email with semi-intelligent questions.

Welcome!  The sea of Cortez is one of those places on our bucket list as well.  Happy sailing.
