Anybody found a good replacement for the original fixture?
Any surprises during the R&R?
Thanks!

Dave G

I ordered a shower valve replacement (Tub & Shower Diverter) from CamperPartsWorld.com

Out of town for several days; we'll see what it looks like tomorrow.  Did notice the feed lines can be reached from the 'medicine' cabinet behind the head sink/faucet.

Dave,

While you are in there (behind the medicine cabinet) it would be a good time to check your vacuum break on your head discharge which is behind there right above the shower valve.  My vent breather gasket was rotted out and the gap that was left was leaking.  Each "flush" caused a little "water" to be sprayed out, not good. You can also see the deck drain which I added a chafe hose over because the original hose was rubbing through on the sharp edge from the base board.  Behind the deck hose is the chainplate.  The small hose and black fitting lower right goes to the shower valve setup. I also found all of the 1/4" plywood that makes up the interior of the medicine cabinet was rotted, both from the head hose spray and the deck hose leak from the chewed hole.  The green foam along the hull by the way is the insullation that I added.  Good luck. Dale,
Thanks for the heads up on the insides of that cabinet.   :)  Great photo. Will report my findings.
Right now job 1 is removal of bowsprit bolts that defy 'normal' procedures (Harbor F. cutoff tool next).
Then making template of bow mount bolt holes to have fabricator back drill new bow rail.

Dave,

As I recall, there are the bolts that go through the anchor roller assembly and the rear block it sits on.  Those you will have to drill out the teak bungs to get at the heads.  Then there are the bolts that go through the cleats that I believe also go all the way through the teak and are nutted underneath.  They are very long and I would hate to hear that you cut those as replacements maybe hard and pricey to find.

It has been awhile, but that is what I recall, no pictures however.
Good luck.  Persistence be with you!

Hello,
My shower valve is likewise in need of replacement, and I looked around and found this http://www.rvplus.com/phoenix-products-shower-valve-for-hand-held-4in-412v-i.html a Phoenix products 412V-I .  This thing is supposed to be all brass, and I'll pick it up in the mail today I think.  The one in the shower now is chromed plastic with a plastic underbody.  Both the case and the underbody are cracked, and it leaks profusely when it's opened, but not while closed thankfully, both into the shower and the bilge.  I'll be replacing it as soon as convenient.

That looks like a dead ringer for the original.  Let us know how it goes.

I have the valve and it's excellent quality, all brass except for the little bib that attaches to the shower hose :(.  But it looks easily replaceable if it breaks.  I am planning to replace the water fill hose as well as rebed the chainplate and water fill with butyl at the same time.  That way I don't disturb my wife's bathroom for more than a day or so.  It's a tad more difficult to live on a boat in progress as any dismantling tends to require unpacking of all fully packed spaces.
