I noticed today that the dink that came with my new-to-me sloop is going to need some tlc, in particular one of the patches holding an oarlock is parting from its pontoon. I read somewhere that 3M 8001 Windshield Adhesive works well and sets up quickly. Any suggestions re what has worked well for you?

Oops. It's actually called 3M 08001 SUPER WEATHERSTRIP AND GASKET ADHESIVE.

The normal practice is to use the contact adheasive for either PVC or Hypalon. It is sold under numerious manafacturers. West marine carries some. This would be what was used for glued items when the boat was made. The 2 part appollo is supposed to be better. I have used both and I like to regular adheasive better. Some people use 3M 5200. Rubber boat dealers hate this as it works a little inconsistant. Rubber boats get old and they do have a life span.

I have used it for both auto trim and minor dinghy repair, it's a good relatively fast setting contact cement.
