OK, maybe the subject line was a bit too dramatic...
I am looking at New Found Metals ports to replace the forward four.
According to the manufactures list on NFM, some of you purchased 5" x 12" and some of you purchased 4" x 14" ports and I am hoping you know who you are.
My question is as follows...
The 5" x 12" replacements for the forward ports are a bit tall if you do not encroach on the radius that leads into the deck line and if you have the eyebrow teak strip.  (I do not have the eyebrow but that is on my must have list.  I believe the eyebrow lengthens the boat visually and at the same time lowers the look of the coach house.  It is also a nice contrast.)
Anyway, the 4" x 14" are a better fit up there.  The second two aft could take either size because the cabin side gets taller as you go aft.  Does anybody have some feedback on how the 5" x 12" ports did end up fitting? Or, does anyone have a picture of their installed 4" x 14" ports and some feedback of how they look? Would you choose the same size if you had to do it over again or something different?
Thanks in advance... Good Sailing, Dale

It's been awhile since I changed out the portlights but I remember that the 5X12's went in great. Maybe a little cutting but no big deal. The larger ones I went with a 6X20 and needed to fill in on one end. I was repainting so it worked out. I made wood trim rings on the inside to cover any gaps and to act as a spacer. The only thing I dislike are the poor screens they had at the time of my purchase. I think they may have a new screen now and a couple more sizes.
