Light Shades

Does anyone know what the material was and/or where I can source some of the 4" diameter pipe? I know I can upgrade to LED lights and fixtures but there are many opportunities to spend money and this one is low on the list. Any help would be appreciated.

 Don, a quick check of my usual sources for oddball stuff came up dry on material for lamp shades.

However I can pass on something I found for LED conversions. Academy sells some task lights under the Seachoice name. They are a small (about 4" in diameter) round cheap fixture. They come in white or black, Academy had white ones. They sell for 12 bucks. The LED cluster has 18 LED's in it and the cluster snaps out to allow access to mount the fixture. The cluster is about 2" in diameter. The wires are about 10" long. The cluster can be easily transplanted into another fixture. We have brass cabin lamps that were mostly green with corrosion. They were incandescent and pulled 1 amp each. I polished and lacquered them, stripped out everything from the housing. New mini toggle switches from Radio Shack, and mounted the Seachoice LED clusters with a bead of clear silicone. They put out just as much light, but now they pull .12 amp. We can now run every light in the boat for about the same power consumption as one of the original lights. I have replaced all but one light in the boat by transplanting these clusters. They will also fit inside some dome fixtures if you remove the original bulb socket. What remains to be seen is how long they last. I have 2 spares- the others have been in the boat for about 6 months. So far, so good.
