Hello all!
I'm doing some much needed work on the mizzen, with a new full batten sail being made locally by Banks as well as installing running back stays. I'm doing the backstays myself and was wondering if 3:1 would work or is 4:1 the way to go.

Thanks!

I checked mine out today, they are 4 to 1,  My check stays that attach at the inner cutter stay on the main are also 4 to 1.  I never felt that I was dragging the rig backwards when I pulled them down hard.  After all, except for the mizzen sheet, the back stays are the only thing holding the mizzen rig from falling forward.  I like the idea of 4 to 1 especially if one flies the mizzen staysail.  I have a J-22 chute that will fit fairly well as a mizzen kite.  Some day this summer we are going to have to try flying that.
