Thank you all for giving me some very good ideas. I Finally got the platform off yesterday. It was a pita. They did a nice job at the factory sealing/gluing it down to the deck and tip of the bow. I'll be mostly concentrating on the core rot first, which doesn't appear to be too much, but I'll see when I start digging around. In the meantime I'll start ordering some materials for the platform.

Hi all, I'm thinking of making the platform itself 54" long. That'll be about 18" extending from the end of the bow. That sound about right?

Thanks,

I didn't measure overall length but mine extends 17 inches past the stemhead.

Thanks Bob.

I'm going with a 1" G10 board as you did. Do you think it would be to long if it extended 20" beyond the stemhead? I figure the extra length will give more space between the anchor ring and windlass.

There shouldn't be any problem as far as strength goes. I no longer worry about the sprit taking the load when anchoring. It was side loading and twisting during a storm that caused the original to fail.

I finally got my foredeck all repaired and the anchor platform done and all put together. It took some time but it all seems to be good.

I used 3/4" marine plywood encapsulated in a lot of fiberglass cloth for the platform construction.
