Previous owner of my '79 ketch located the fuel filter low down on the fwd. bulkhead in the port cockpit locker.  Impossible to see clear bowl or to gracefully change the filter without dumping fuel.  Need suggestions for re-location.  Also, is anyone using the remote oil filter option?  Where did you locate it?

If your talking about the Racor fuel filter, mind is in the same place on my 1881 367 and it looks original.  I added a vacuum gauge (a Racor part) so I can check the filter condition. Maybe you can check the bowl with a mirror or your phone camera.

Thanks Alfresco, but I need to move it.  Things that are convenient to check get checked more often.  Racors & oil filters fit that in spades along with the dip stick.  As things sit now, inspecting the Racor requires emptying most everything out of that port locker to get at it... which is nuts.  Just wanted to see what others have done to remedy the situation.  Cheers!

How about at the top of the locker?

Ok, its been six months since the last post but now we've gotten into the fuel filter project.  Got the practically inaccessible Racor out.  Not easy...

Standing in the cabin facing the companionway (ladder rmoved) with the "engine room" door open, will be mounting it on the engine room panel at the left.  Right now my deckwash pump is mounted there but if I remount it about 3" lower I can fit the Racor there.   Cheers!

Zaya's Racor is upper left of the engine cabinet looking from inside the cabin
pretty easy to deal with there and out of the way of most of the rest

AMITY, i would really like to see pictures of what you've done when you finish up. I would like to move my filters/sep also. Mine aren't that tough to get to, just positioned in a bad way over a battery bank, in a place where spillage is difficult to clean.

Fuel filter re-located.  Now we can see what's going on.
