Website - Changes?

I'm going to open can of worms here.

We would like this forum to have the information we all need, organized so it is easy to find, and we want this site to be easily managed/maintanined.

I would like to ask all ya'll to tell me what changes you want or improvements made. If  the requests are feasible, don't create security issues, and make sense,   I will make them; otherwise, you are outta luck.

This site is not mine, it's not Rich's, it's for all of us and, although I might be a smart SOB when it comes to computers and cardboard mockups, I am not all that creative and I only know what I want to see.

If you run into problems, tell me, chances are that I'll fix them.

For example: I tried to attach a pdf ( Universal 5444 manual) for Verne and couldn't because the upload file size was capped at 800 kb ( I did that when I got the site going again; it was an arbitrary value).  So, I upped it to 1100kb (with 3200 kb max per post).   Easy to do, no harm done. 

I can't promise that can or will do what you want, but ask anyway. I want ideas.

You can reply in this thread, send PM to me, or and email  if you know my address.   I'll be happy to pass out my email address in a PM, but won't post it on a forum thread (I've been lucky with  very little spam in email and i'll try to keep it that way).

As a newbie, with a boat that needs a lot of work, I can say that the site has been invaluable and is greatly appreciated.  I can't think of a lot I'd change, maybe ask folks to watch thread drift a bit so that topics are easier to search, but in general I think it works pretty well.

How do we post photos?

Jim,

Posting photos is a bit easier now.

Below the box in which you type when you are making a new post or replyling, you will see four check boxes,  then below that, you will see the boldfaced word  Attach:


Below that you will see a button labeled "Choose File".  Click that.

You will now see a dialog box. Use this box to navigate to the folder that contains the picture you want to attach. 

Select the file you want to attach and click "Open".

You will be returned to the post you are typing and you will see the name of the picture file to the right of the "Choose File" button.

If you want to attach more than one poicture, click the link below "Choose File" button, named (more attachments)

This will open a 2nd "Choose File" button. Do this for up to 4 pictures per post.

When you Preview the post, you will not see the attachments. Attachments are uploaded and visible only when you Post.

Restrictions (which I can change if needed):
    Each individual picture has a max size of 1.1 mB
    Each post or reply is restricted to a max. of 4 attachments
    Total max. size of a post with attachments is 3.2 mB
    Permitted file formats are: gif,jpg,mpg,pdf,png,txt
