Recently found my propane drain vent, at the bottom of the locker, hanging loose and not connected to its PLASTIC thru hull.  Hidden from a casual inspection viewpoint.

It has been replaced with a bronze thru hull and the area added to the annual safety check list.

Dave,

One more thing to keep in mind on that drain.  The hose tends to have a low spot before it exits at the transom thru hull.  Rain water that is collected in the propane locker settles in that low spot and defeats the purpose of the vent.  You may want to adjust the length of the hose or support it in some way to assure and water that gets in there drains out so the vent keeps a clear path over the side in the event of a propane leak. I would recommend that the hose is see through (clear) so you can see any obstructions such as water as well.
