This is a replacement Tachometer with hr meter that I have found to replace my Motorola Part No 7HT2007 Westerbeke original unit.  This will "work" but I would like to find one with a crome bezzel to match the other instruments.....any advice?

Richard,

Try the Teleflex Heavy Duty Series Instrumentations. They a have 0-3,500 rpm diesel tach with hour meter that is very similar to the Motorola units that came with our boats.

Richard, thanks again for pulling the site together.

Here is what I have on order to replace my dead Motorola unit.  I'll report back on how the unit functions and on the instalation process.

Product Features

• Fits in standard 3 3/8" hole
• Simple three wire connection
• Choice of RPM range
• Models with and without Hourmeter available
• Hourmeter shown on backlit LCD screen
• "Mech/Alt" models for diesels use either a mechanical sender (sold separately) or an electrical signal from an alternator regulator (no sender needed). When used with an alternator signal these are adjustable for any pulley ratio or alternator pole count.

Richard,

Sea Dragon's tach died this season as well.

How much was the unit?... Where did you order it?

I bought it from Jack Rabbit over the web and it was $145.  I looked forever for an exact match, and Stewart Warner had some ice units, but in the end, I like this one.  I'll let you know how she works and post some install photos.

I will also be installing my new engine control panel:

Richard,

How goes the tach replacement.... For what it is worth, during the winter lay up, I began trouble shooting my tachometer problem only to find one of the lugs on the Alternator was/is broken (AC take off).. I am having it fixed and I hope this will solve my Tachometer problem...

I am sure you have gone through the standard trouble shooting process. But, I thought it was worth mentioning.

Good luck
