Transmission oil ?

I have the original 1979 4-108, transmission and v-drive in my 365. After searching, I cannot determine what oil goes in the transmission? Can yall help?

My trani is a Paragon and it uses strickly motor oil, straight SAE 30.  Trani fluid makes it slip and the transmission overheats.

Is there any secret to taking out what I assume is the dipstick. It turns and turns, but does not come out. I have tried pulling straight out, but that doesn;t work either....

It should just pull straight out....at least mine does anyway!

Not sure what transmission you have. If it's the paragon there is what appears as a nut, I can't nrenember what size 9/16 or 5/8, the dipstick is attached to that. The velvet drive, Borg Warner has a T handel to turn. It is like one of those wine bottle sealers where you turn it to tighten the seal. It the top part of the plug  turns with the T handel you have to hold it so it wont turn.

Sounds like I may have a borg warner. what type oil?

The Velvetdrive is a hydraulic transmission so it uses ATF, automatic transmission fluid. If this boat is new to you ,I always like to astablish a baseline for maintenance items, and change the fluid.
