Well we had Sol pulled out of the lake and the toe rail was damaged. Any idea where I can find an off the shelf replacement or will I need to make it?

Thank,

There's nearly 90 feet of toe rail on the Pearson and every foot of its a custom fit. I'm going to assume that some part of that got damaged with the lifting straps? So with that I'm guessing you need to repair a section.

Nearest thing to off the shelf replacement is what you can buy off the shelf from your local hardwood store. For the repair you will need to learn about scarf joints. Any old book on marine carpentry will discuss this technique for making repairs in damaged planks. What the authors of these books never knew about is the oscillating saw. The greatest invention ever for making scarf joint repairs.

I had to install the entire 90 feet on my boat. I chose to cut planks from a template as opposed to steaming and bending a pair of narrow planks as Pearson did. Here's one piece of many.

You will have your work cut out for you if the damaged part is under the genoa track. You will need to disassemble half to boat to remove the 40 bolts that hold them on before you can make the repair.

Yes the damage was caused by the lifting strap. I cut out the damaged pieces and it looks like I can salvage the top part. It won't be great looking but the entire toe rail needs replaced someday. So after I pay for the move I'll start saving for some new teak. The trim on the side of the hull is toast so I'll make a new one and call it good. Thanks for the replies.
