Update - it was just jammed forward due to old oil full of clutch sludge.  I unjammed it by tapping the shift lever (at the transmission) lightly with a rubber mallet then pulling it hard by my hand.  Then did an oil change, adjusted it a bit and its been working flawlessly.

Hi,
I did a search and I couldn't find an answer.  I've heard about boat yards putting keel blocks in the incorrect spot on the keel, aft near where the bilge is where its the weakest.  This causing the fiberglass on the hull in the affected area to weaken, later leading to oil-canning.

I was wondering what is the proper placement of the keel blocks then?  Should the boat be tilted forward with a flat block near the front of the keel?  Or a different arrangement?

Thanks in advance.

Here's the link for the manual but it  isn't a very good one:  https://pearson365.com/forum/index.php?topic=1938.0

Just 4 bolts to remove the trans cover on top.  Check for shift fork movement inside.  Ensure good oil level  Prolly not an adjustment issue I don't think, but here's another thread with adjustment procedure: https://pearson365.com/forum/index.php?topic=2105.msg10886#msg10886

Good luck!

I recently delivered a new-to-me P365 back closer to my home waters in the Chesapeake bay.  We had a 150nm offshore passage down the jersey coast.  About 110nm of that was under motor-sail.

During the cruise, among other things, the transmission stopped getting out of foward.  No neutral or reverse.  Full range of motion at the pedestal lever.  The shifter linkage arm at the transmission was moving when the pedestal lever was moving.  I don't think the clamp at the shifter nub is slipping.

I am 2 hours away from the boat and I'm unable to go check it, but what are some places that I can start looking to diagnose the issue?  Is there a manual with adjustment procedures?  I don't have the model number off the top of my head, but it appears to be a SOAD transmission.  Sorry for the low-res pic and thank you in advance.

Several things could cause this issue, but my first hunch would be to check the thermostat.  However, during a diagnostic procedure, I first check fluid levels, then raw water operation.  Check seas strainers, raw water pump impeller and make sure the seacock can open and close freely.  If all that is good, then I start checking fresh water components.  160 seems a bit on the cool side to me, and I'm comfortable at 200.  220 is when I start getting concerned and 240 you are doing damage.  But the quick and easy, see if your thermostat is stuck open.  Good luck and fair winds.

I have a 1982 Pearson with a Universal Diesel 44 HP. It is a Kubota block. I recently installed a new heat exchanger. I can run the engine at normal cruising RPM for 2-3 hours and it never overheats (runs about 160 degrees), but when I stop for an hour or so and restart the engine, the temperature will spike to 200 or so. If it sits overnight, it won't spike the next morning when I restart it. I think I am getting an airlock in the system but don't know where it is coming from. Any thoughts or ideas?

Okay, so now I have learned that PeteW whom I purchased #6 (Tartanic) from, was an avid poster on this forum. I have read every post he ever posted, and understand everything now, knowing he is an Avionics Engineer. I am blown away by his ingenuity and effort he has put into this boat. I knew I was looking at something that someone put some serious time into, but I had no idea to this level.

That said, I am also dumbfounded now at how so much of his work actually works on the boat. And, how or if any of it will be easily fixed if needed, because it is so custom.

I have tried many ways to reach PeteW to no avail. I wish I could have a consultation with him to learn some things about this boat. If anyone is still active on this forum and has any recommendations, please advise.
