No body seems to know of a source but any sign maker could make a decal and then you could sell the overrun to cover the initial cost. The decal could be used for many applications. I know several sources and could get an estimate. Let me know.

On a 365 ketch the head stay is 5/16" diameter. A little heavy  but prudent.

I have several Sherwood raw water pumps ranging from a basic casting that needs a full overhaul to one ready to go. I am sure I can supply one well below the dealer price. I keep one on board in case of impeller failure and I have collected three others. Contact me via email don@mainmast.com and let me know your interest. I also have a Paragon transmission from an old 4-107 that did not use a Vdrive. I do not know much about it but I can supply detail to someone who knows more than I.

Thanks for the input. I read the Edson information prior to my attempt and tried to use the chain to help. No luck and I have been unable to release the tension since the eye bolt threads are fixed in the steering pulley. I will make another effort and hope for the best. Any new ideas would be appreciated.

I am trying to replace the shift cable in my Edson pedestal. To do this I need to move the chain off the sprocket. To do this I need to take the tension off the chain. The eye bolt into the quadrant seems to be permanent. I have tried hammering the end coming out of the bottom, tried to turn the eye bolt ( no room) Has anyone done this or have any idea/s. Thanks

I have had problems from time to time with the screw connections on the circuit breaker located on the plate just behind the starter. Check the tightness of both screws and clean the wire connector surfaces.

I have to replace my shift cable and wonder how the project went. The screw head on the pedestal was filed off by a previous owner?? It finally let go after 6 years and I need to replace the cable since it is bound in the sheath. I would think a 9 foot cable would be cheaper somewhere other than through Edson.

Any input would be great.

I have sailed in the Penobscot Bay of Maine for 25 years all this time in ketch's. 15 years in a wooden ketch and the rest in a 365. The 365 is a catchers mitt for lobster trap rigs. One day two years ago the chop almost hid all the floats and I caught 5. I have considered placing a stainless steel or bronze bar between the keel end and the rudder skeg to fend off the line from the traps to the float/s. My concern being that the bar could be bent into the prop and really mess things up.

What really causes problems is when the lobster man uses a toggle connected to his or her float. This creates a natural trap for the 365 if it gets close to the main float. Several years ago I purchase a hooknife and Perfect pole that allows me to cut a toggle line that hooks on to the rudder skeg. I have used it several times since my purchase. This frees me from having to jump into the Maine water.

I think the real solution would be to place a bar between the keel and the rudder skeg and support this bar so that it would not bend into the prop when fouled.

For what it is worth.

Two years ago I installed a Lewmar windless using two 6 gauge wires running along the port side to the battery selector. I have two deep cell house batteries and one starting battery connected to a selector switch. When I leave an anchorage, my engine is usually working and the windless is working off the alternator. I installed an up down switch at the bottom of the air scupper and a remote control unit. All has gone very well and I would recommend my set up. It is simple requires little maintenance and I did not have to set up new battery stations.

When I start up, I usually put my selector on both and leave it there until I anchor. At times I will switch over to charging just the house batteries but the voltage difference between number one and two is slight and I do not loose sleep over the fact that the charging stays at the lowest battery state.

Keeping it simple has worked for me for many many years and I recommend the outcome. Usually it also saves a lot of money.

I did not have jacks on either sail until this year. I installed the " Sail Cradle MK IV' sailcare.com on the mizzen. This has worked great. The lazy jack stays along the mast until I am ready to drop the mizzen and then I deploy it. The mizzen sail drops on top of the boom and is out of my way until I get to it. No more trying to tie it up while anchoring. I highly recommend the store and deploy concept. There is no chafing and it is easy to deploy. There was a similar set up in the last "Good Old Boat" I am sure it will work as well as the MK IV but I have used the MK IV and know it works.

Good Luck,

Does anyone know what the material was and/or where I can source some of the 4" diameter pipe? I know I can upgrade to LED lights and fixtures but there are many opportunities to spend money and this one is low on the list. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the patterns hanging on my wall. I would need to price out the teak if you are interested.

Damon,

Thanks for the response. Your fix sounds like something I had in mind. How did you afix the eyes to the keel and skeg? It would have to be sturdy enough to fend off a short toggle line.

When I acquired "Papillon" several years ago it had no stern ladder. Dale Tanski noted in his reconstruction section, still available, that he had a new ladder done by Tops-N-Quality. I contacted them last fall about a ladder and they sent me drawings that Dale has supplied and asked a few questions. I ordered a ladder several weeks ago and when it arrived I was very impressed with the quality. I will put on my transom after the snow melts and know it will be a welcome addition.

You can contact the supplier at http://www.topsinquality.com and reference the Pearson 365.

It is nice to find good suppliers that provide quality product.

I too would be interested in knowing the rigging and the dimensions for a mizzen chute or stay sail. I only have one halyard on the mizzen and no connect points for the foot of the sail. How do it work???
