Venture has been sold!

We owned her for 10 years and she has been one great boat. New owners are excited and we feel like she is going to a good home.

I want to thank you all for the many hours of great reading and know how I have gleaned from his site.

A special thanks to Rich for setting it up.

Cheers,
Randy

I have my 1979 Pearson 365 Sloop for sale in Norfolk, VA. She is very well maintained and clean. Please see YachtWorld link for particulars and contact info. Please take a look, you won't be disappointed.

I have the exact same set up on my boat. I bought some mast boot tape from Defender. It's a roll about 6" wide and 36" in length. sticks to itself. You just start at the bottom and wrap upwards around the mast. Makes a great watertight seal, except at the mast track, where I pump in a blob of silicone. Then wrap it with a sunbrella boot and you are done. Will last for years. Cheers.

20 gallons? Could have come from a clogged dorade vent above the shower, but that's a lot of rain. When was the last time you looked in the space? Maybe, just maybe, the sump pump was off and there was a leak in the shower faucet??

Joel,

I agree with Dale. That's not a repair to put off. It's not that big of a deal to replace the hose. Just have to haul the boat to do so. I believe there is a thread on here that identifies the size of hose and a good source.

Dave, Unless you plan on going to the Pacific, you do not need 200' of chain. 100-125' is plenty for the islands. Also, your current set up is a fine rig. Nothing wrong with a 35lb delta. Great anchor. It's the anchor of choice for all Navy "Special Boats". Cheers.

I have a 45 lb Rochna with 50' of 5/16' chain. Sticks like glue all over the Chesapeake. I drug a 35 lb POS CQR all over the place. Go with the Rochna or similar type anchor. You will sleep well.

Beautiful boat Leo. You won't have any trouble selling her.

Bondo is fine for small repairs like that. Easy to work with and sand. You can buy a small can at Home Depot. Or you can go to West Marine and buy some special boat filler and pay four times as much. Just be sure to tape off area around the hole. You can find paint to match pretty close. Nobody will know but you :)

Just a 3/4" core of plywood.

Cheers Michael,

They are repairable. Any radiator shop should be able to clean, repair and pressure test. No worries of an air lock. I have been using a product called Rydlyme. I circulate it throughout the entire engine raw water cooling system with a small water pump. It seems to really work at keeping all the crud out of the coolers and lines.

Good luck

Thanks Pete & Allen. I am going to pull the mast (as i want to replace VHF ant, masthead light, running and spreader lights) and I will remove mast step and take it one step at a time. I am sure I will be calling on you again soon.

Thanks for the input.

Need some advise from those who have gone before me. I am going to replace my rusted out mast step. I know I can order a replacement from Rig-Rite? My question concerns the bolts that secure the step to the keel. Mine are really rusted with not much of the bolt head left. Are the originals lag type bolts with wood threads or machine type bolts? If I cannot get them out of the keel, what do you suggest? Drill new holes and secure with new bolts in a new location on the step? If that is the case, what type of bolts would you use and how best to secure them in the keel?

Cheers,
Randy
