My C71 is overheating and apparently causing ATF loss at front seal. What is normal operating temp range. Manual indicates 190⁰ F max., 140⁰ to check ATF level. I use a 4108 double oil cooler for engine and transmission oil on the coolant circuit. Engine temp 165⁰ to 170⁰. Tranny exceeded 200⁰ on the case. 183⁰ internal measured with an infra red temp gun down the fill port. Engine running at 1700 rpm in forward gear while tied to dock.

Pearson 365/367 Mechanic Shop / Walter V_drive

Has anyone rebuilt the Pearson Special RV-10 v-drive. I am in El Salvador with a failed Rv-10. A local shop I've used in the past replaced bearings and seals. When reinstalled the unit vibrates in fwd or rev at idle and higher revs. Also emits a hum. Sounds a bit like a complaining differential.

Walter machine has been very responsive and helpful with my RV-10 questions.
Mine failed with salt water intrusion. Walter said to replace all bearings, seals and universal in the drive.  Took mine to a shop in El Salvador. They replaced all  but the universal.  Have no moise, but still have soam vibration. Have to realign.  Contact them at info@waltergear.com or call 2016565654.They will ask for the v drive serial number.

Will the raymarine EV-200 sail AP with type1 linear drive steer our cruising loaded P365s in heavy weather? Displacement 17700 lbs + 20% fully laden = 21400 lbs. Getting close to Raymarine's current upper limit of 24000lbs. Anyone have experience with the type1 drive?

I installed a Perkins engine/transmission oil cooler using the engine coolant circuit instead of the usual raw water circuit on my Westerbeke 40. No aparent problems till reaching warmer air and water temps in the Sea of Cortez. Now seeing overheating at higher rpms. Temp falls to normal ranges at lower revs. Trying the usual stuff, impellor, belt tension, heat exchanger, hose restrictions, thermostat to no avail. Any thoughts?
