Does anyone have any photos of the teak Dividers in your refrigerator box?  Mine have been removed and I'm convinced the system would work better it the box was sub divided.

Garner,
The information posted for Island Jade, P 365 Ketch Hull# 48 is correct but the current owners are Bill E. Nowlin and Lynette Christenson.  Just thought I'd give you one more thing to think about.  Thanks for maintaining the list.  It can help assassinate perfectly good time ;D

Island Jade needs a boarding ladder.  I searched the archives and found some ideas concerning having one built, but I'm curious about what you have done about boarding ladders.  I'm 6'2" and 270# so I need a substantial ladder ;D  What is your preference? Stern mount or rail mount?  If you have bought a ladder that is working out well, let me know the make and model or better yet, post a photo.  I appreciate your interest in getting my big self back on board ;D

On Island Jade, (p365 ketch) the port settee pulls out to make a wider, if not double, berth.  When pulled out, there is a cavernous void between the back of the cushion and the hull.  I'm guessing that there is supposed to be another cushion to fill up the void.  I have searched the archives and can find no mention of that cushion.  If you have such a cushion, please chime in here and let me know what it consists of and it's dimensions if possible.  I'm 6'2 and will celebrate the 23rd anniversary of my 40Th birthday next summer, so climbing in and out of the V-Berth is more gymnastic than I care for.  I'm usually on board alone, so the port birth is my choice.

I assume your fuel tank has been relocated.  If I cut a hatch in the floor between the pedestal and the Mizzen, I would be looking at the top of my fuel tank.  I completed this modification on a bayfield 29 but not on the Pearson.

Thanks graemek,
Island Jade left the dock twice in 5 years before we bought her and one of the two she came in on the hip of TowBoat US.  She was hard to start when we bought her in May and has been getting worse since.  Southern Diesel pulled the head and checked the valves for leakage and found some, but not a lot.  When he poured transmission fluid on top of the cylinders, it leaked out of two immediately.  All this after a compression check showed two cylinders out of spec and one really low.  I tend to agree about the pump rebuild.  All indications are that it was performing as expected.  I think I'll have the injectors sent in.  We ordered the full rebuild list.  Rings, pistons, sleeves, inserts, bearings, gaskets etc.  Parts came to just less than $1,000.

Incommunicado,
Was the new tank stainless or aluminum?  Would you do the same again?  Is plastic a viable option for fuel?

I've been reading the old posts relative to rebuilding and or replacing the Westerbeke.  I have decided to have Southern Diesel rebuild my engine.  (rings are stuck on two cylinders)  It appears to me that the galley cabinet must me removed to get the block out.  Can anyone shed any light on the subject.  I also read that having the injectors and pump rebuilt was a must.  Can someone shed more light on that subject.  I don't want to spend money needlessly, but I will if there is good reason.  Pay me now or pay me later comes to mind.  What about the fuel tank.  Is is likely to leak down the road?  Should I have an aluminum tank built?  Is there a source for a out of the box tank that will fit.  So many questions, so little time.

THanks in advance for your opinions.

I'm still trying to get Island Jade ready for some coastal cruising and I have replaced all of the running rigging.  All of my halyards are external.  This seems like a mess of lines and I'm used to internal halyards.  Has anyone led theirs inside?  With the masts up?  Weigh in here guys and girls and let me know how it worked out or why you would never, never, never lead your halyards inside :-\  I'm getting close to having it as it should be, but there is plenty to do!

Ok Then!  Just pick up the mast and drill a hole in the step.  Ed, I'll be in touch  ;D

Thanks

Two previous owners ago, a radar was installed on Island Jade.  It was installed in a Nav Pod and looks good EXCEPT the wiring comes down the mizzen shrouds and into the combing, through the engine compartment and then back up through the binnacle.  The wiring is fastend to the shrouds with dozens of wire ties.  I am replacing the Radar and adding a Garmin 4210 chart plotter.  Those external wires have to GO!  Do I just drill a hole in the mizzen mast under the radar mount and again at the base of the mizzen?  I've read the posts about the 10 (or however many) pin connector and that seems reasonable, BUT.  In Texas, we don't take our masts down unless they are hit by lightning  ;D  so the connector may not be as necessary.  Am I going the right direction?  Will a 1/2" hole in the mast cause any strength issues?  I plan to send the fearless mast climber up there to drop a weighted line down so I can send the wires up.  Am I missing something?  Chime in here, Please!

Just aft of my starboard chart table, there is a small storage space.  It is about 9" wide and conforms to the hull.  Has anyone found a really innovative use for this space.  It is not a good place for a fire extinguisher or for the "rag bag".  If you have it figured  out, send photos ;D

My pumpout guys sell some stuff called Tank Tamer to customers who will pay big $ but when I ask him what he used, he said he uses white vinegar with a little cooking oil mixed in!  He says it works better than anything else.  We will see.  He also suggested that I flush with fresh water only.  His contention was that the living sea creatures in the salt water would die, rot and add to the stink.  It makes as much sense as anything else I have heard.  :) The vent fan seems like a stroke of genius!

Can someone enlighten me on exactly how you fly the mizzen stay sail?  I've just bought Island Jade (p365 #49) and I have a brand new stay sail, but have no idea how to rig it or when it is likely to be used.  I saw one photo that appeared to have it flying off the end of the mizzen boom.  Please include photos if you have any.

Are there any 365 gatherings on the Gulf of Mexico?  I'd love to participate if they are within a reasonable distant from Galveston Bay.

We are new to the list and new to the world of 365s.  My sister and I have just bought P365 Ketch hull #48 in Kemah, Texas.  The current name is Island Jade and we intend to keep the name.  We are currently upgrading the electronics, converting the forward water tank to a holding tank and rebuilding the V Drive.  New sails and perhaps a gen set will come soon.  We love the boat and look forward to sailing her on the Gulf Coast of Texas.  We are new members of TMCA and the boat is located at Portofino Harbour Marina.
