I installed a prop-protector when I bought 'Trinity'.  No problems.  I had been snagged at least twice by lobster/crab pots while cruising the west coast on my previous vessel, so I think this was a wise investment.

Looks like an SL 555 on consignment sale at my locally owned chandlery.  Let me know if anyone wants me to make any inquiries.

Hit by an anchored sailboat...is that like being stung by a dead bee?

We were hit by a gondola in Coranado, are we up for a poll:
What is the most interesting thing you've been hit by?  Hehe.

Seriously, George is correct keep that noisemaker, or two, in the cockpit.  The handheld VHF or RAM as well.
I've been sailing for 20 years, and am currently skipper of a 90' power....there are clueless mariners on both sides of the aisle.

Fair seas,
Marc

Welcome!

I think the W40 is certainly enough power and is a reliable OLD engine.

IMO if you are planning to cruise the world it would be better to have a professional repower, new Yanmar, which will give you the same horsepower for less weight, more fuel efficient, and will be able to get service and parts anytime, anywhere.

Full disclosure:  I had my 4-108 replace with a rebuilt 4-107.  I sail locally, and got a good deal on the swap.

Marc

Now they're $99.  Perhaps I'll see if Port Supply has an alternative...

I use a place called Custom Embroidery here in Ventura for my business.  Lisa's a sailor and does work for business, personal, regattas and races, etc.  If you have a logo in mind I can ask her about prices.

Yes, in fact his ad in Good Old Boat is specifically for the Pearson plaque.  I got one about a year ago I think it was about $70.
