Pearson 365/367 Mechanic Shop / Re: split in rudder
September 30, 2012, 10:16:45 PM
I am assuming that the split is an inch or so long and water is seeping out.  Use a chisel and hammer and cut out the effected area.  The interior of the rudder is compartmentalized with horizontal and vertical pieces....do not be surprised to see purple fiberglass.....dig out the wet area and let the resulting hole dry out....maybe all winter.  Use the west epoxy system to fill in the spring.  Good luck.

"Panache"

Panache is a ketch built in 1980. The boat was bought new from Wells Yacht in Marblehead, MA by my dad in June 1981.  My dad passed it to me in 2005.

Here on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, I used to race Panache 365 Hull # 310 in the "Beer Can Series" at the local marina.  We had a PHRF for her at 218.  My claim to fame is that we would come in last and sometimes win the race!!!!  The others would be at the bar and we would be pulling in.  Lots of fun and great stories.  I would not trade Panache for anything else. -Gary ;D
