Does anyone have or know where I can find a set of spreaders for the main and mizzen for a 365? My masts were stolen from the boatyard and have acquired a NG60 Isomat section for the main and a Isomat NG46 section for the mizzen. They only stole 2 of the original spreaders one of each main and mizzen. I am searching for either Spartan airfoils or Isomat spreaders. If anyone knows of a yard that has surplus or consignment please forward contact info.

Leo,
Make a trip to Home Depot or Loews. In the electric depat. look for or ask a sales person (hope they are smarter than here in U.C.L.A. {Upper Corner Lower Alabama}) and find a ground wire clamp. They come in different sizes. Find one that will slide over the cable sheath. Remove the cable from the CAV pump and slide it over the sheath. In a straight section, use a socket and ratchet to tighten the bolt. This will compress the sheath around the control cable. Tighten gradually and test. Do not over tighten since the sheath is metal and once deformed it will not pop back out. You will be replacing the control cable at worse. This will solve your problem. Question, why are you running the engine at max throttle?

Pearson 365/367 Mechanic Shop / Re: Paragon SAOD Problems.

I will dig the file out  and email it to you. Meanwhile will do some research into the noise issue. This is not normal for such a simple gear. Look for a post here shortly. I'll also get our Manager of outside Machine work here at the shipyard opinion also.

Yes Sir ! ! !
The screws Pearson used would make a peacher loose his religion. Determination is the key to this project, (but the hand rails look great).

Hello Henri,
Parts for the Paragon SAOD can be ordered through any Twin Disc clutch distributor. I rebuilt my 2 years ago for a little less than 200.00 in parts. Took about 6 hrs to disassemble, clean and reassemble. If you need it, I can upload a PDF file of the repair manual. Need your email.

Hello Stephane,

I am the original owner of hull 136. I recently was faced w/ the same problem, repower or rebuild. I opt to rebuild for several reasons. I purchased all the parts including dry liners pistons rods bearings seals gaskets valves, everything needed but the crank and cam and block from a diesel parts distributor in Houston for a little over 900.00 including UPS charges. I did the work my self but any good diesel mechanic can do a complete overhaul in about 20 to 30 man/hrs. I can send you the name of the parts supplier if you wish, I do not have it with me here. The other reason I chose to rebuild is, the 4-108 is a low RPM engine which means it has a steeper torque curve than the 44B. The 44B is a higher RPM engine and thus is not as fuel efficient as the 4-108. I can maintain 7.5 Kts @ 1800 RPMs burning approx. 3/4 gal per hr. After the overhaul, the engine runs quieter, smoother than original. If you do choose to rebuild, do not fail to take the CAV injector pump and the injectors to a diesel injector/pump repair shop for overhaul also. The cost to do mine was 746.00 but a must.

Parts can also be found at some of the older established MASSEY FERGUSON tractor dealers, some Lincoln welding machine repair shops, Gorman Rupp pump manuf. Do not use Caterpillar, even though they bought out Perkins. You will pay 4 times what it is worth.

Dale,
Many thanks. Rig Rite bought up all the spars from MetalMasts when they folded. They have the raw sections (bare poles). Quoted 5679.00 for the main and 2645.00 for the mizzen.

Dale, I have been a member of the "Yacht Club" since it was first started. I started my renovation in 2006 and have had several set backs due to work transfers and other. Like you, tried to sail and refit at same time and did not work. Sorta like remodeling your house while living in it. Decided to put her on the hard and do it right. Problem I am faced with presently is spars. I had stripped the spars of all hardware and using a mig welding unit, filled all the holes and was getting ready to refit all mast hardware. That was until someone decided to steal the masts and cut them up for aluminum scrap. So now am looking for spars.

Presently getting ready to replace the original teak and holly floor with solid 3/4" X 2 1/4" teak flooring. I am also replacing the teak toe rail cap and outside rub strake. This is going to be a monumental task, but it will get done. I will be documenting both the toe rail and the cabin sole w/ photos.

Question. Is there  a repository for uploaded technical documents somewhere on the web site? I have several GBs that would help a lot of owners. I have converted to electronic documents as much info as I could find on P365s and have taken PDF drawings and converted to scaled Autocad drawings.

Hello all,
I am the original owner of hull No. 136, bought new in 1978. I am in the middle of a complete restoration. I have overhauled the 4-108, transmission and v-drive and have a wonderful reliable source for engine parts. Overhaul w/ new jugs, pistons rods bearings, seals, all but the crank and cam, cost 998.00 w/ UPS charges. If anyone needs drawings, technical info, dimensions etc, please contact me. I have accumulated a vast library of specs and documentation all in electronic format. I have the original layout and sailplan drawings from Pearson in PDF. I also have drawings of the standing rigging with dimensions and specs for each individual member of the rig.
