I want to upgrade my auto pilot from a ev100 wheel pilot to a below deck linear (hydrolic) drive.  anyone out there who has a below deck set up I would love to see pictures of the install and any advice.  I want to use raymarine as my control head and sensor will work with the type 1 or 2 linear drives.   Also where did you get the tiller are that bolts on the quardrant?     thank you in advance.

This was in factory bay on Marco island Florida (Naples area).  I'm with tow boat us there and anytime I see a 365 passing through, I always stop and say hi.    I didn't get where his home port was but I can tell you he does a lot of cruising.   He does not let that boat sit much.   He also still has the original westerbeke 40 in it.  He redid his standing rigging with the high tech braid deama.  I had redone my rigging after hurricane Irma with stainless, but after talking to him I might have considered do the same.  There is always a better mouse trap out there

No plans,  I just threw it together with pop rivets to hold things together until I could weld it.  The brake handle is the kind that goes on seniors walkers in that it can be locked.  The hard part was the 17' cable.  I found a guy who sells it by the foot on ebay as well as specials that clamp on the cable to form the end lug.  as for forgetting to unlock it, a simple post it on the tach by the ignition key  and if all fails, bicycle  brake pads are cheap

Hi everyone:   The repower of the SV HakeLe was completed on 12/31/19.  That was the day we did her sea trial.  I could not be happier with the way she performs under power.   So now the specifics:  I went with a Beta35 with borg/werner velvet drive tranny with a zero reduction.  I didn't need to cut any of the cabinetry but disassembled a lot.  Some of the issues we had were:
1 the old drive shaft coupling was 3 bold and the new one was 4.  Not a big deal but beta had to send me the coupling and we had to find a machine shop to attach it to the old drive shaft.  lost 8 days there.
2.The telescoping drive shaft from the old paragon to the Vee drive was 40 years old and the 1" splined shaft was rusted in the larger shaft.  had to take it to a machine shop to get it out and order a new 1" shaft from walter machine co.
3. The instrument cover was from a company called seaworthygoods.com for about  65 bucks.  It only took a little trimming in the old instrument cut out.  I think it looks pretty good.
4. According to Walter mach co, when sailing we need to stop the prop from turning since no water is circulating with the engine off.  putting the new tranny in gear doesn't stop it.  A folding prop is about 2k, the product called "Shaftloc" is about 860+-.  I fabricated this frame with bicycle brakes and mounted the hand brake in the stb. cubby for less then 75 dollars.
5. I re-pitched my three blade, 17x10 prop to 17x12.  as such I spin up to 2650 RPM's at full throttle and need to be at 2800.  Beta advised that I just use her like this until my next haul out and take a half an inch of pitch out.  doesn't void the warranty.
6. had to have the engine mounts modified several times to get the alignment right.  This was the hardest part of the entire job.

I hope this will help someone, some day.   in other discussion strings many of you have helped me out and for that I thank you.  I also wish there was a way to post more than 4 pic's.
happy trails guys

hi guys.  I had problems on HakaLe too.  a couple of breakers went bad and the plastic was so old it was just falling apart.  Plus, I really needed another ac breaker for the air conditioner.  here is what I did.  Both the AC and DC panels are blue seas brand.  The DC panel didn't have a main breaker so I switched the top one with a 50 amp breaker and cut an inch of the buss bar.  The buss fuse panel I made from a small piece of aluminum and just spray painted it.  Those fuses are 1 amp for the back lights, volt, and amp meters       hope this helps

Thanks everyone .   I do appreciate the advice.  I took charge and am now repowering with a beta 35 @2800 rpm a direct drive borg werner velvet drive tranny   The people at beta marine have done several 365's      The only issue is I will need to re-pitch my 3 blade prop from 17X10 to 17X12

hello again my fellow 365 owners.  replacing my westerbeke with a beta 35 and velvet drive tranny.    Currently my westerbeke and paragon do run and run well.  Does anyone know of a broker or a way to sell my old engine short of craigs list and/or ebay  repowering because she is 40 years old and I don't trust here on long trips

thanks for the help guys.  my mech will try to remove without cutting first.   all your comments is appreciated   going to install a beta 35    The folks at beta say they have repowered several 365's and this works well.  it is also only 16 1/4 inches wide
