Has anybody replaced the mast head Hayward shives.  Can it be done without pulling the mast?

Pliase note that "Long Winded" 1977 ketch # 174 is owned by William Edelstein

A whaile back I saw a 365  that the owner had refinished the teak looking formica with a clear varnish like coating. The effect was very good and it looked like fine varnished wood. Has anyone ever tried this to know what primer should be used and how much surface preparation should be done?

The gears are hardened steel. I like the fix if he can do it.

I went for 2 100 watt panels above the binimi. I like it better than over the Dodger. I would go larger if I did it again. Very often I loose almost 50% of the output due to the Mizzen shadow. When I live on the boat in the Bahamas I do what I can to move the Mizzen Boom to avoid the shadow. I am not always successful. So far the most output I have seen is 10 amps under ideal conditions. Most of the timw I see about 3 to 4 amps here in virginia not going out of my way to avoid the shadow. This makes it possible to run my engine to keep up every other day instead of every day.

I always found that the antifreeze is hard for the pump to pickup. I extended the intake higher than the engine and pored the antifreeze into the engine. Sometimes it is a little hard to pickup water in the spring commissioning.

I have a useable old dodger I replaced on my P365. If anybody would like it with the stainless steel bows please email me at wedelstein0@gmail.com. I dont want anything for it but you would need to pay for shipping.

Does anybody know where Pearson bought the propellor shaft Struct for the P365.  Vessel Lady Ella hit an underwater object. The diver says that the Struct is loose at the hull attachment. If it needs replacement is there a direct replacement? How is this corrected it the struct is completely bad?

Just imagine a car top rack carring the 400 pound engine on the roof of the car.

The bimini is a little complicated. It goes between the main backstays and the mizzen running backstays. You can move the running backs to the stern. Sometimes you may want to make horizontal rails around the cockpit and fasten the bimini bows to to the horizontals.
This makes clearance for the winch if yours is behind the main backstays.

It looks like you have the correct bolts. They go to the adapter what we would call a bell housing. This sounds like the spline is rusted to the drive plate. It may break to get the gearbox off. I only think you need to pry the gearbox back from the engine. You may need to drive wedges there to get it off.
The bell housing can support either the manual paragon gearbox or a 1:1 borg warner velvet drive.
I have both a spare paragon and a recently reworked velvet drive in my shop. I could sell one if that will help. Call me at 757 567 8883. I have had the gearbox off a few times.

Long winded at its storm mooring in Norfolk came through fine. It did not shake anything off the navagation table. My dock and service did not do so well. The service boat had to be replaced. The dock rebuilt. Both did fine through numerous storms.

Lasy ella a 1981 model ketch rubbed the cap rail We replaced 5 feet last week.

Several other P 365 boats in the area did well.
