after removing my old Ideal windless I discovered that at the drive shaft hole the core in my fore deck is water damaged and the deck has pulled away. After sounding the deck with a mallet I am going to need repair approx. 3 sft. of deck. INTRIM was built in 76, does anyone out there know if the foredeck core is plywood, balsa or something else. I want to have all the proper ingredients on site BEFORE I cut into the deck. Thanks

Has anyone installed flexable water tanks in their 365? The baffels in my built in fiberglass tanks have broken loose.
By the time I cut openings in the tanks to refasten them and find some type of paint to cover the new resin I might as well cut the whole top off and lay in flexible tanks. Has anyone done this? if so which brand of tanks did you use?
Vetus, Plastimo? Everything seems either to long( inches) or to small (Gallon wise).
I would appricate any advise on this.

Thanks as far as the info goes. As far as the advice I'm 6'3" he's already 6'5" and growing. I may need to find someone smaller to shimmy up that mast.

My main halyard broke and my jib halyard jambed at the line to wire splice. My 18yr old got up there and started asking alot of questions. Does anyone have a sketch or diagram of the masthead or the ability to explain things to a moron how the halyards are run thru the sheaves ? Ever try to get to the mast head without a halyard and no steps. I'm looking for a friend with a cherry picker.

I also had a problem with my anchor light. My solution was to cut an oblong hole on the port side of the mast directly across from where the old wires exited the mast down below. The hole I cut was 1 1/8" by 2" aprox the size of a cutout for a halyard exit plate. This gave me access, although I'll give you , not alot, to the wiring inside the mast. With flashlight and inspection mirror in hand I disovered a virtual rats nest of wires twisted and tied around one another. Originally I beleive the previous owners idea was to run all wire taped together ans wraped in a foam tube covering, like plumbing.Then extra wire was left at the bottom- Just incase..  It was not in my budget to pull the mast at this time. Using a thin fish tape I fished down from the top of the mast and pulled new wire, leaviving the old wires in place but disconnected and cut short. With the larger hole on the port side of the mast and a young son to feed the wire, I was able to rewire the light. This fix should last for several years or until I can pull the mast and redo all the wireing. With the cut out in the mast I will be able to make future repairs if needed when a boat yard is not available. The fish tape I purchased is made of a fiberglass or nylon rod that rolls up in the handle - no rust. It now resides on the INTERIM

The baffle in my starboard water tank has come loose. Any one have a solution to this? I'm not real crazy about trying to replace them if theres a way to repair.

Have not gotten to it yet. Our municiple marina, post Katrina, is still without elec or water.  But I am looking at the possibilty of replacing the teak with a composit material (ie: residential deck material). I have had a 5/8" sample sitting on my deck for over a year with little fading. There are colors very similar to oiled teak at 1/20th. the cost. So far all the same bedding materials seem to adhere to it as well as they do teak. The down side is weight. Its much heavier. I'll keep you posted.

Anyone who has installed a holding tank for their head, I would appreiciate some guidance.
I can't seem to find any space large enough in my pearson 365. I've even concidered converting my strbd water tank into a holding tank. Any imput would be welcome.

"Can anyone tell me the thread size for the thumb nuts on the original Bomar hatches. The thumb nuts need to be replaced on my new boat but I was thinking of just using hex nuts to get her home across the Gulf from FL to TX. They look like 5/16 unc!"


I had the same problem on INTERIM. I ended up drilling out the holes and packing them with JB Weld. Then I drilled and tapped them to match thumb screws I bought at a local H.D. They lasted through Katrina and stii work today.

I am in the process of post Katrina repairs. Hull is repaired and painted , Sails repaired or replaced. Now I'm turning my attention to the toe rails and tracks. Some required cutting off for hull repair, other areas did not survive the storm. Any words of wisdow from those who have done this?
