Hello all,
Where was the original braker/fuse box for the 110 circuit on the 365? Thanks very much!

I think reefing a bit earlier is the key for Lola. Much better. Thanks again!

I looked around the internet - halfhulls.com seems to be stopping productions. Any other ideas? gh

Thanks Dutchie. I really appreciate the input. I think I'm going to get out in some moderate winds (wishful think this summer in galveston Bay?) and just try different combinations. I love the way Lola sails and appreciate the speed over my old Cheoy Lee Offshore 28 (Luders) but this ketch can be a handful. More later... George

Hello Tysons, just found this post. Glad you made it safe and sound in the Harvest Moon. I'd love to see any pictures you have of the 365's. Lola is fixed up and ready to go again. gh

Thanks all - sounds like the mizzen can make a big difference in reducing weatherhelm. Appreciate the knowledge! Hop

Hello all, I feel that Lola (#67) has a bit excessive weather helm with breezes above 10 knots. This was with main and 150 jib only. What is the conventional wisdom on this. I am new to ketches. Would the mizzen help balance a bit? The weather helm concerns me with ideas of more longer offshore jaunts coming up with a limited number of crew and endurance. Thanks!

The pilot berth may be a viable option - I had been thinking about sacrificing the bottom of the hanging locker. I have a large capped off bronze thru hull that is already in place that would be convenient from either the pilot birth or the hanging locker

Do you all agree that 12,000 btu would be adequate. I will not bother with reverse cycle heat. Thanks George

Yes Ed, air conditioning. I now have 25 amp service on Lola. Will I want to add another 25 amp circuit dedicated to AC? Locating an appropriate place for the unit is an early issue as well as what vendor ( will dictate space needed for the compressor, etc).

I'm considering 110 AC for Lola. Can anyone suggest 1. AC vendor and 2. Location for equipment. Thanks, George

Hi All,
On Friday morning Lola got hit with a squall of about 40 - 45 knots. The stitching blew out on the rollerfurling sunblock and fouled the forestay about 30' up. Remants went into the water and fouled the prop. Not a good scenario. Got the anchor out and it seemed to be holding while repairs were under way. I was able to free the prop by very carefully reversiing the prop - a huge relief. The storm was on us for about an hour. While in capacitated we took about an 8' wave broadside. Unable to repair the jib. With 6' seas and and a headwind of about 20 kt we made for Freeport - about an 8 hr tiring bash. Unable to repair the jib so we bailed out of the race.

Our biggest issue was a lack of crew with only two able to sail Lola - we had a novice sailor - helpful but no helmsman and a long time crew who was incapacitated w/ violent sea sickness the entire race from race start to docking.

Sooo.... many lessons learned.

Thanks Ed and his Midnight Mile which made the trophy stand - Congratulations! Many thanks for sharing your thoughts on this crazy race, your race strategy, and your suggestions for next year.

BTW - the three P365 ketches were absolutely smoking the other cruisers in class at the windy race start - 215 boats.

Harvest Moon Regatta - Third Coast.
October 1 09 is the start of the harvest Moon Regatta race from Galveston to Port Aransas. A glance down the list of 215+ entrants shows 5 Pearson 365's - 3 ketches and 2 sloops. A pretty good representation of a 25+ year old design.

Ahoy!
Within about 2 weeks of last use of water from fresh water tanks, I turned on the tap in the galley and the water was very smelly. I left the tap running for a while, all three tanks w/ valves open and the smell got a bit less but still there - you would not want to use it to wash your hands. I*'m not sure how much water remains in the tanks.

What do you suggest? Thanks!
