I have seen Sailrite dodgers that people have made. they never look right to me.  Dodgers are expensive but there's a lot of labor involve. Our boat takes a pretty big dodger, $3400 does not seem like a bad price. You should get about 8/10 years from one. I am having a hard dodger being made now. I will post some pictures when it is done.

Yes, I think it was 1996 that they changed the type of stainless to 316. It was a big improvement.

So I go out and buy the best American anchor chain and nylon rode I can find. Then I go down to West Marine and all they have is cheap Chinese shackles. It just does not make sense to have my very expensive anchor, connected to my very expensive chain and nylon rode by a cheap Chinese piece of junk. After spending a few thousand dollars on the anchor and rode I am willing to spend what ever it takes to get a good, safe shackle. What do you have connecting your anchor to your rode? I think I will look into a good, not made in China, swivel.

Pearson 365/367 Yacht Club / Re: Alcohol Stove
September 23, 2018, 05:19:43 AM
yes we have all heard how dangerous propane is but in over 50 years sailing I have only seen one boat that had a propane explosion. Latitude 38 ( the magazine) ran a story on it. It was big news. Very rare. Alcohol fires are much more common. Alcohol at $16 a gallon. Propane is about $4.00 gallon. Outside the US alcohol is extremely hard to find and very expensive. When I was in Mexico some yachties with alcohol stoves were trying to buy 50 gallons jet fuel for their stoves. There was no alcohol. They went to the airport and said they were buying it for their plane that was down in the desert. The Feds thought they were drug smugglers and arrested them. Moral of the story, don't buy an alcohol stove for your boat or you may be aressted

Jeff, I have used a Pro Furl on three boats and really liked them. They worked very well.  One lasted five years and a circumnavigation. But it did give out and I had to send it back to have it rebuilt. My last four boats all have had Harken furlers and they have worked extremely well. Zero problems. My present boat, Pearson 367 has an older Harken and it is working fine. would go with either one of them but I think I would be leaning a little towards the Harken.

I want to thank everyone for their help. I found the problem. The charger was bad.

The answer is, the oil and filter are new, the Wt. is  15/40 and it is topped off.  Since i posted that I have motored 1000 miles so if had no oil pressure my engine would be toast now.  it must just be a bad sender or gauge. Thanks

Yes, I would like to know the same thing. Please let me know if you find out

I do have some good news. I installed a new Walter Rv 26 V-drive. And I tested it driving my boat up the ICW from Jacksonville Fl to Norfolk Va. and it work very fine. It was a bear both taking it out and reinstalling it but now it is done and working well. I got a lot of help from Craig. thanks.

I have 3 new AGM batteries. 300 amp hours.  I have been using them for 4 months I am tied up to a slip and have them charging on shore power. 20 amp charger. They are going from 12.5 to 12.2 volts, mostly 12.2. In a matter minutes.  the only load is the fridge. approx. 5 amp.  This has been going on for three days. Does this sound normal? shouldn't they go up to 12.8? over night?

I just motored from Jacksonville Fl to Brunswick Ga.  My new Walter V drive runs great but I am having a problem with my engine. Oil pressure starts out at 60 psi after it warms up it drops to 10 psi. And the gauge needle starts bouncing I thought it may be the sending unit so I installed a mechanical
Gauge and it is the same,    the needle does not hold steady. Does any one know what may be causing this?

Yeah, this pump is very small but puts out a hell of a lot of air. The cheap ones don't put out that much.
