Pearson 365/367 Yacht Club / Re: PHRF rating on a Ketch
February 23, 2011, 06:56:43 PM
It's great that your kids want to participate with you. More than I can ever say.
We were able to get a 216 rating ( unoffical) for the races we entered. Most of the time it was the first mate and myself only.
We have a small club would basically race within our club.
I love the way the 365 sails . she points , fairly well, and screams off wind. I can feel the helm as she gets"in the groove".
Many of the other boats in the club are close to the same rating so we have fun.
Hope you enjoy your time with your kids, it's important , anything you do.

those fiberglass tanks sound great. They won't fit in my locker.
I found a tank but it looks like I'm going to have to do a little modifications. Either to the tank or the box, I think the box is the best choice.

C- cushions are great. We have a 7" and love it. The first mate said I could buy new cockpit cushions as long as I bought her a helms seat.
No problem.

We have a seaward propane tank on our Pearson 365. The guy that refilled it last time told me not to refill it again, it's out of inspection date.
I have no problem with that, safety and all.
When trying to find another tank and going to the seaward web site, they show a tank that's one inch taller than the one we have now. The model number for the box it fits in is 143. Apparently they don't make that model any more.
Has anyone run into this problem?
I think I could cut 1/2 inch at the top and 1/2 at the bottom of the new tank and make it work.
I would hate to have to replace my Propane box also just to replace the tank. Those boxes aren't cheap$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Thanks for any info.

we've got a 7 inch C cushion and it's perfect. Once it's on top of the cocpit cushions the first mate can see just fine.
She told me I could buy new cockpit cushions if I bought a helms seat for her. No problem!!!!
love em.

I will check them out, thanks for all help.
The windlass has been a great help and I didn't realize how it saves my "aching back"!!!!

I think it is a 37 amp breaker. It doesn't sound right , but that's what is stamped on the side. There is also a brand name of Otter.
When I went to try and sand the contacts, it fell apart in my hand ( rust ) .

We have a Sea Wolf windlass on Ohana and can't get it to act right. It appears as though the overload thermal breaker is corrided and not allowing enough power ( 5 volts ) to the motor.
Does anyone know where I can get this overload thermal breaker? does it have to be " marine" ? or can I get it at an appliance store?
The system is 12 volts. This overload breaker was extremely corroded and obviously not in good shape. I had 12 volts at the switch and only 5 volts at the motor.
Thanks for any help

Anyone going to meet at the Boat Show this year?

good ideas , thanks.
Think I'll go with bedding and no gaskets.
Now when do I have time to do it??????????????????????????????

We are replacing lifelines on Ohana. I want to remove the stanctions and rebed under them. There is a rubber gasket under the base.
I wonder if there should be a gasket there, it seems as though that connection ought to be tight and a gasket would allow some movement which could cause a leak.
What are some thoughts and what type of chaulking do you all recommend under the stanction. A friend of mine used 5200 and I can't see that. If there ever had to be a replacement it sure would be difficult.
Thanks for any input.

we have a beta marime 1505 on Ohana. that was one real selling point for us. The engine has performed well and we have no complaints.
The service is a issue but the engine is in backwards!!!! Deal with it.
When I give her full throttle the bow just about stands up. ( maybe not quite )
Keep the filters and oil clean.

Boy does that name ever bring back memories!!!!!
Mom and Dad used him back in the late 60's and 70's as their sail repair on the Tartan's they owned.
Is he still working??

WE replaced the sails ( main ,110 genoa and mizzen ) on Ohana hull 337 about 2 years ago. Boy what a differance!
We used Quantum sails. I didn't think the location of a sail loft was important either, there made overseas anyway.
I was very satisfied with Quantum , the guys were professional and responsive when I had questions.
We chose a 2 batten main , which I think I would prefer a full batten main. We had one on a Sabre 28 and it laid in the lazy jacks easier.
