Title: Bad Weather
Post by: Dale Tanski on October 16, 2011, 12:22:41 PM
I know I have mentioned to you all before about Lake Erie's famous chop.  For the past two days it has been blowing stink up here with gale warnings at night.  The eastern end Lake Erie NOAA's buoy, (the rough end) showed 13 footers every 13 seconds.  Certainly different than the ocean.

Yup, it's not over yet, blowing pretty good at the Western end of the Lakes today.
We get some square waves too, but Lake Erie stirs up quicker. I spent a cool rainy night beating from  Port Colborne to the Detroit River with a SW wind, pretty lumpy as I recall.
Glad the boat is hauled and winterized on days like this.

Another bad day.  20 miles upwind of Buffalo at the Port Colborne buoy, 31 kts gusting to 46 at 3 this afternoon.  Waves 12.8ft every 8 seconds.  Still a lump fest out there.
