Hi all
In my quest for the best 365 to make an offer on I have found a sloop that has been 'remodeled' from a ketch. It says the mast is 4 feet taller and the boom 1.5 feet longer 'for better balance'. my concern, without having the opportunity to sail her is that she might be a bit tender or have balance issues. the idea of the ketch rig has grown on me from the perspective of short-handed sailing so the idea of an oversized main is my concern. the boat has a LOT of extras so it is appealing but not if she doesn't sail well. At the risk of tipping my hand... http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/boatMergedDetails.jsp?boat_id=2368852&checked_boats=2368852&ybw=&units=Feet¤cy=USD&access=Public&listing_id=1569&url=&imc=pg-fs
I really appreciate any insight y'all might have.
Looks like a great boat. Did you notice that they have also converted the nav station and added a quarterberth? They rotated the chart table 90 degrees. A HUGE plus in my mind. I have never seen a P365 of that age with a quarterberth. It also looks like they added custom cabinets throughout. Take a close look at the carpentry quality if you go look at it.
I think the original Pearson Sloop rig was a few feet taller than the ketch from the factory. 4' is quite a bit, but I bet she sails well.
What part of the country do you live in? In the gulf we have several bridges that are 49'. The standard rig is PERFECT around here. The East Coast has most fixed bridges at 65'.
We own a 1979 365 sloop. Love it but would welcome more sail area. If the boat seems tender (I doubt it) just reef. This boat looks like a real winner!! Jim
