Title: Getting new eye brows and hand holds
Post by: EdHouston on April 19, 2011, 08:05:58 PM
Just got done roughing out my new eyebrows and have enough lumber over for new hand holds.

I found a nice piece of teak at Houston Hardwwoods 9'7" long 4/4 x 8" amazing I am going to have all this for under $200 the wood was $27 BF which worked out just around $180 plus change.

I will post some photos later but I used a round over bit in the router to cut the round edge I think its a ¾" round over may even be a ½", then ripped each piece to ¾" on the table saw, next cut was a 20 degree rip on the long edge giving me the profile to match the old piece but fatter (30 years of sanding and varnish have taken the toll on the old ones). I will scarf joint the two parts and mount using screws plugged and 4200.
