Title: FRONT ENGINE ACCESS
Post by: cliffmann on May 03, 2010, 03:02:06 PM
I just bought a 1976 365.  It has been repowered with a Nanni/Kabota 37.5hp diesel.  It also has a newer fuel tank.  Access to the front of the engine where the belts and waterpump are is very tight, between the tank and engine  Has anyone ever made an  access panel or panels in the cockpit floor, on either side of the mizzen mast to gain better access?

I moved the fuel tank location to under the cabin floor. It required cutting the cabin floor to make it removable. The new fuel tank is a 12 inch high belly tank that has to be custom made. It holds 60 gallons. Without the diesel tank behind the engine I can sit under the cotpit floor working on the front of the engine. I dont know if I can recomend such an extream modification but it has worked out very well.
