I'm interested in setting up a mizzen staysail on my 365. Any information on sail size and attachments?
Thanks!
The size of my mizzen staysail is as follows...
Luff - 29'
Leach - 24'
Foot - 18'-5"
The luff of course is wire with a leader approximately 2ft long to get the tack up off of the deck. I attach the foot to the check stay pad eye (I have the inner forestay arrangement). The pad eye is just aft of the rear lower on the deck. The sheet goes to a block at the rear of the mizzen boom.
Hope this helps.
Good Sailing... Dale
Great info! Thanks!

Hey Dale, we have the padeyes we salvaged from our other boat, but need measurements on where to mount them.
No problem... remember that my boat is less then 200ft away.
From the aft lower chainplate the padeyes are 55" back. This puts them just aft of the lifeline stanchion base. The dimension from the center of the stanchion base to the center of the padeye is 4 1/2" aft. If you want to go the other way, from the center of my mid deck scupper drain the padeyes are 6" center to center forward.
The padeyes are a square base 4 bolt arrangement and of course the eye is aligned with the keel. They are mounted so that the outer edge is lined up with the deck nonskid and the smooth edge just like the lifeline stanchion.
The only reason I had the staysail dimensions so readily available is that there was a mizzen staysail on E-Bay, and I had just measured mine to see if the E-Bay one would fit. It was prettier than ours. The luff was right on however the foot and leach were way long. The seller said it was off of a Niagara 37 ketch. It went for a bit more than I wanted to spend and would have cost a couple hundred to cut and sew a new clew on to.
Hope this helps...
Dale
