Title: Who has a Cole Stove?
Post by: RayNWanda on January 12, 2010, 04:20:36 PM
We got a Cole Stove with Abracadabra. We have not tried it out yet. I have looked for info on them, but there is very little. It appears that the main complaint is that they don't hold enough fuel.
So- who uses one? We got a Dickenson DP smoke head and a 22" extension for the flue pipe. It is installed on top of the cabinet forward of the port settee. Looks like the proper through deck fitting- the stove was used at some time in the past. Any tips, suggestions?

Of course we don't need ours NOW since it's currently 80 degs in the cabin  ;)

But we did use our Dickerson heater back in Port San Luis and like it.  We used 2-3 of the self lighting BBQ briquets (that we kept in a air tight and sealed Jar) to start the drift wood fire and it worked great.  Simple and easy and affective.

rascalhas a cole stove. works great! what i do is use briquets,3 or 4 in a #1 paper bag with a couple of staples. this keeps the dust and handeling very neat and seems to be a good way to control the heat and it will be very comfortable if not down right toasty

I had a Force 10 bulkhead fireplace on a previous boat and generally used wood scraps or tree branches about 1" in diameter cut to length on a table saw. Another favorite was to use pressed logs broken into chunks. I used paper lunch sacks to stow a firebox size bundle. I went with a Webasto forced air furnace on my Pilothouse because there isn't a good location for a fireplace but I do miss it. Enjoy!
