Title: Mizzen staysail tack?
Post by: EdHouston on August 30, 2009, 03:35:13 PM
Ok Y'all where are you attaching the tack for your mizzen staysails?

Thinking of trying an old jib from my Pearson 26 as a staysail for the 365 but not sure where to make the tack attachment!!

Ed,
Because my boat has the clubfoot inner jib, the main mast is set up with jack stays that pull from the inner forestay attachment point up top.  The lower attachment point is a four bolt pad eye just aft of the stanchion base behind the aft lower shroud.  This is where I attach the foot of the mizzen staysail.
Without the pad eye, the base of the stanchion would do nicely.  The staysail is a big little thing, kind of squatty with lots of foot.
Hope this helps...
Good Sailing, Dale Tanski

I would like to see some photos too. I think we have all the pieces, but not sure how to rig it.
