Title: Just to say Hello
Post by: Shacklepin on June 17, 2009, 11:59:11 PM
Hello fellow enthusiasts,
My name is Steve but more often than not I'm called Shacklepin, hence my handle, due in part to what some say is a fanaticism for the sea rather than a calling.
I have just purchased the loveliest boat in the world, though she's looking a little unhappy at the moment. Yes; I am now the proud owner of a Pearson 367 Hull #36.
Previously known as Jolly Mon, she was renamed to Fredricks Abode and extensively upgraded in 2006. Unfortunately she has been sailed hard and is in dire need of a lot of hard work and even more TLC, which she will receive in small doses from my wife and I.
I have no agenda and I am sticking to it.
I have been fortunate over the past 12 years, to have the opportunity to own and restore a Van De Stadt designed Pandora Named "RIP TIDE",She is a 22' Bilge Keeled sloop. and is now parked too far from her natural element at the side of my house back in England but together we have explored some of the lesser known reaches of the North Sea and to be perfectly honest not loved but savoured every moment. I suppose I look back on those days through rose coloured specticals.
I will shortly be offering the required libation to Poseidon and the four winds and renaming her EBB TIDE as it is my intention to let Ebb Tide take me across the Pond one day to revisit some of those old fogotten haunts.  So if you see us in your travels please pull alongside and we'll share a Rum and a Yarn or two.
Thank You for accepting me into your exclusive fold and if I can augment this site in any way, I look forward to doing so, though I am sure I will pick your brains more than you mine. Cheers and to coin an old fraise" Keep up the good work"

Thanks for the welcome Gents

Big boat, small boat, fast boat or no boat its always good to feel welcome amongst ones peers/piers.

Born in London I moved up North to Durham as a kid and stayed. I sailed out of Hartlepool and Sunderland or where ever I could get a mooring.

Thanks again
