I have two tanks mounted in ugly storage boxes next to my helm seat that I would like to change. Some suggest needing only one tank as it get him through a year. Where do you store your tank/s on your 365. Also what size tanks do you have? Pictures would be a great help.

On our previous boat, we had a USCG/ABYC approved propane locker in the transom. They had cut out the top of the transom between the two vents and installed the locker, vented it through the transom and installed an access hatch in the top of the transom. It was a very clean and neat installation. When we stripped the boat, I got the locker. It holds a pair of tanks. I will install it in Abracadabra the same way when I can get to it. We have two of the standard size BBQ tanks, one each mounted on the vertical supports of the stern pulpit. We use one of these tanks every 3-4 months, but we are heavy users of our oven. We make all our own bread, Pizzas twoice a week and such.

Mine are in the aft locker it seems to work out OK problem I have is I have to unpack the locker to get to the cylinders to even turn them on, I do not like leaving them on when not in use.
Ed, that looks like the same locker we have. Ours was mounted to a shelf fiberglassed to the transom with a hatch in the top of transom for access. One thing I can't see in the pic is the vent. It is vented overboard? The vent should be from the bottom of the locker out through the transom. These lockers do make carrying propane on board safer, but like you, I want the bottles shut off when not in use. Also, a gas detector is good backup. Mount it down low in the cabin- propane sinks.

It is vented overboard and I have the gas detection system that is wired to the solinoid valve, so if there is any gas leak into the bilge the soliniod valve will shut off. The sensor is in the bilge.
