Well I found out that it will cost way to much to repair tranny.(old paragon) So, has anyone replaced one recently? What type, brand, size did you go with? What did it cost (Ball Park)? Last but not least where did you get it? Any help will be wonderfull. If I get this taken care of I just might get to use the boat this spring. Thanks and Good Sailing!!!
Captharry, I replaced my tranny about ten years ago with a Borg Warner velva drive 72c numbers on it are 10-04-065 (904). Can't tell you what it cost a friend with Perkins Power Corp. took an old case gutted it sandblasted and put everything new in it at no charge.I am certain you can find new and rebuilt on the net. Hope that helped some. Allen
The paragon is very simple device to repair. I have a spare gear cluster assembly here I can sell. If not the Westerbeake 40 Bell housing will accept a Borg Warner gearbox. That is a much better gear but it is hydraulic so it will not lock the shaft with the engine off.
