Title: Staysail with clubfoot
Post by: p424owner on May 20, 2008, 05:32:48 PM
I would like to create a bit more versatility for my rig, especially in heavier weather. I have looked at those of you with the factory staysail option, and I am considering this and also a solent stay, per comments from Brion Toss. Of course, a solent stay will cost less since it does not involve running backs, or any spar hardware, and it will bring my center of effort closer to the center of the boat, reduce weather helm and heeling moment. However, perhaps Bill Shaw knew best?

Does anyone have any comments to share about their staysail? Gotchas etc?

There is quite a bit out there from the 424 site on the solent so I am covered there.
