In the fall of 2005 I purchased a 1980 Pearson 365 ketch. At the time I was sailing a 36.5 foot Alden wooden ketch with a Westerbeke 33 hp diesel. I had spent more time in the engine compartment than the cockpit so I purchased a rebuildable Westerbeke 4-107 in the hopes of intimidating my 4-108 to behave. It did not work and in the 2006 sailing season my beloved engine sucked a valve.
I was lucky that the incident only broke the connecting rod, the camshaft, and a number of push rods and valves. The 4-107 and 4-108 have many interchangeable parts but in the end I paid almost $2,000 for parts to half rebuild the engine. Now I have many parts that members of the site may be interested in. I have stored the block, head, and the transmission in the barn at the family farm. If anyone is in need of parts from a 4-107 that was fresh water sailed ( I could not believe how easily this engine came apart) let me know. My thought is that I would sell the parts for 10% of what the Westerbeke dealers quote plus freight. If this is too much, we can negotiate.
Don:
You mentioned the transmission. Is it the Paragon? If so, (and I assume it works) what are you asking for it and where in Maine are you?
My sales region includes Maine, and I could probably have one of my folks up there pick it up.
My 365 is #316.
I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Don,
From what I read you have only the head, block and trani? Or... am I reading that wrong?
Thanks... Dale Tanski
I'd love to buy an exhaust manifold if you have one available.
thanks,
Mike
Don, here are a few items I would like to buy if you have them available:
Starter
Injector(s)
Fuel life pump
Oil Cooler
Fresh water circulation pump
Engine Mounts
I would love to add these to my spare parts list prior to start Cruising later this year.
Don,
I would buy a heat exchanger if you have one available.
